THE COLLABORATIVE MODEL

A Christ-Centered Partnership Between School and Home

What Is a Collaborative Micro-School?

Pilgrim Way Academy is a collaborative hybrid academy designed to support and equip parents in their God-given role as the primary educators and disciplers of their children.

Our unique model combines the structure of classroom instruction with the flexibility and heart of home learning — all under the leadership of Christ and the authority of Scripture.

How It Works

We follow a hybrid rhythm each week:

Our Weekly Rhythm

Monday – Home Learning (lesson plans provided)
Tuesday – On-Campus Instruction
Wednesday – Home Learning (lesson plans provided)
Thursday – On-Campus Instruction
Friday – Flex Friday (select weeks for enrichment, family activities, service, or rest)

Quick Distinctions: What It’s Not

❌ Not a co-op — you are not required to teach other families' children

❌ Not part-time private school — this model keeps the home at the center

❌ Not traditional school — it’s built on partnership, not outsourcing

Why This Model Works

  • Biblical Foundation: God has called parents to disciple their children (Deut. 6). This model allows them to fulfill that calling with confidence and support.

  • Deep Family Connection: Children are not away from home 40+ hours a week. More time together means more time to grow in Christ as a family.

  • Academic & Spiritual Growth: Students receive strong instruction without sacrificing the spiritual atmosphere of the home.

  • Community, Not Compromise: Families walk together with shared values and mutual encouragement.

What Does Home Learning Look Like?

On home days, parents teach using lesson plans and resources sent home by our teachers. You don’t need to guess — we walk with you.

Estimated Time Commitment Per Day:

  • Kindergarten – 2nd Grade: 1.5 to 2 hours

  • 3rd – 6th Grade: 3 to 4 hours

  • 7th – 10th Grade: 4 to 5 hours

Our aim is not just to check boxes — but to help families enjoy meaningful learning experiences at home centered on truth, beauty, and the glory of God.

Why Collaborative Education?

Because we believe children should grow up not being pulled away from their families and faith, but being nurtured by both.

Because we believe in slow, intentional, deeply rooted learning.

Because we believe parents and teachers can work together — not in competition — to raise up the next generation to walk the Pilgrim Way.
